I guess it's time to get a job, or better yet get a career
can't be living in the now - the destination isn't here
it is somewhere far away, only reached by pure force
and when you finally arrive there's a further place of course
and they never let you be, always something new to fix
cannot do it how you want, gotta learn their secret tricks
and of course you gotta pay - "5 easy steps to be a knob"
but i haven't got the cash, I guess it's time to get a job
I guess it's time that I grow up, or better yet, already grown
learn to shoulder all the weight and accept that i'm alone
trade my love in for routine, hang a carrot 'fore my steed
tear up all these dirty forests, plant that monoculture seed
lock the cage around the child, bury it down deep inside
no more singing just for fun, only when in battle cry
have a clever word debate about how much is in the cup
and if you think that it's absurd well then it's time that you grow up
But i'd rather just ignore all these voices in my head
all this pressure on my shoulders from the shit that i've been fed
it's not doing much for me and so I wonder who it's for
